What was the task to be completed?

Create a podcast, either song, poem, spoken words, etc. based on a chosen topic from any subject matter for any chosen grade.

Outline step-by-step procedure of how the task was completed

I pre-downloaded Audacity from AudacityWebsite then upon opening, I clicked "ok" on the dialogue box which popped up. I then proceeded to take a visual scan  of the software. I began my recording by clicking the record button. In doing so, I attempted a few times before I recorded my final podcast. My podcast was a poem about Water Pollution for a Grade 4 Social Studies Class.

What were the challenges faced in this class? How were they overcome?

Given that I was not familiar with the software, I made a few errors but through exploration, experimentation, and some help from Mrs. Roberts, I successfully  maneuvered my way through the software. I also noted that my computer speakers were not of the best quality and with the unavailability of another device to record on, I had to utilize as many editing tools from this software as I could to enhance the sound quality of the audio. There was also an online software that we were asked to try called Voki which attaches an animated character of your choice to recording.

Was there anything new learnt as a result of this learning experience? If yes, what was it and how did you benefit from it?

I believe this was a completely new learning experience for me given that i have never particularly utilized an editing software such as audacity before. In all, I would say that I learnt how to utilize an audio recording software.

Explain how you will use/implement what was covered in the lesson in your classroom.

I can use this to record information and play it to my students. this would be mostly beneficial to my auditory learners in my classroom. If I utilize Voki, the animated character will also help to keep my visual learners focused.
