What was the task?
In groups, Create a Prezi of one topic from a chosen subject for a specific grade.
Outline step-by-step instructions in how to complete the task
The first thing that the group did was to brainstorm on the instructions and we eventually chose Social Studies as the subject, Festivals as the topic and Independence as the Subtopic for a grade 4 class. In creating the Prezi, an account was first created. A Prezi is like a moving, more graphic version of a PowerPoint. With this, a blank template was chosen and from there, images, definitions, videos, and other information was added to the template to bring it to life.
What were the challenges faced n doing the task? If any, how were they overcome?
There were two main challenges in completing the Prezi. The first was that the online site required us to pay in order to use the full features of Prezi however, we utilized what was available to create our presentation. The second issue was that some of the images were too big to fit in the space they were placed. To solve this, we resized the pictures as small as possible but leaving them large enough to be seem by the viewers.
Was there anything new learnt as a result of the teaching and learning experience? If yes, what was it and explain how you benefited from it.
I must say that I have learnt how to use Prezi. I am familiar with PowerPoint however it is great knowing that there is something else there that can do the same as PowerPoint and even better.
Explain how you will use/implement what was covered in your lesson, in the classroom.
I believe I can use Prezi as a more creative and interactive tool for displaying information to my students, capturing their attention and getting them involved.
